The Astoria range takes its cues from the confident, angular lines of the Art Deco era, mixing clear dimpled glass with iridescent purples, greens and blues that shift colour as you move around the room. This 3 Light Pendant hangs the full design on an adjustable chain, so the geometric shade becomes the focal point of the ceiling rather than sitting flush against it.

Choosing Your Astoria Fitting

The iridescent glass mix is the same throughout Astoria, so the choice is about drop and format. This pendant hangs on a chain adjustable from roughly 41cm up to 140cm, giving it far more range than the fixed height flush and semi flush versions in the family, and a shallower profile than the Large Inverted pendant's open bowl shape. It suits a room where you want the shade to hang at a specific height over furniture rather than sit close to the ceiling.

How It Works

Three E27 lamp holders sit within the shade, each dimmable with a suitable LED lamp and compatible dimmer switch. The chain is adjustable at installation, so the drop can be set to whatever the room and ceiling height demand. At 48cm across, the shade is generously sized, giving the coloured glass room to catch the light from several angles as you move beneath it.

Where It Works Best

This pendant works hardest over a dining table or in a stairwell, anywhere its full height range can be used to bring the shade down to eye level. Compared with the Large Inverted pendant, which opens upward, this version hangs with the glass facing outward and down, giving a more directional pool of coloured light rather than an ambient glow.

Interiors 1900 has been designing handcrafted lighting since 1983, moving from its early Tiffany style lamps into ranges like Astoria that borrow from a different period, Art Deco rather than Art Nouveau, while keeping the same hand assembled glasswork. Each shade is built up from individual pieces of coloured and textured glass, mixed and worked while molten, so tone and texture vary slightly from one pendant to the next. That variation is part of what makes a handmade Tiffany style shade different from a printed or moulded equivalent.
