Some ceilings simply will not take a hanging pendant, and the Ashton Large 2 Light Flush Fitting is built for exactly that problem. The same dragonfly and pastel lily glasswork that defines the range is set almost flush to the ceiling here, so the whole design reads as a glowing panel overhead rather than a fitting you walk around.

Choosing Your Ashton Fitting

Ashton is offered in one glass colourway, so sizing and drop are what separate the three fittings in the range. At just 15cm high and 45cm across, this flush fitting sits closer to the ceiling than either the Semi Flush or the Inverted pendant, making it the option for genuinely low ceilings or rooms where a deeper fitting would look out of proportion. Where you have another 15 to 20cm of headroom to play with, the Semi Flush pendant carries the same motif with a touch more depth.

How It Works

Two E27 lamp holders sit behind the glass, each rated up to 60W and dimmable with a suitable LED lamp and compatible dimmer. At 2.4kg it is light enough for most standard ceiling roses, though the handmade glass means it should still be unpacked and fitted with care. The fitting is Class 1, earthed, for a straightforward, safe installation.

Where It Works Best

Look to this fitting for hallways, landings, box rooms and period cottages with original low ceilings, anywhere a hanging pendant would sit at head height. Compared with its Ashton siblings it is the quietest of the three, less of a statement than the Inverted pendant, but still carrying the full dragonfly and lily design rather than a scaled down version of it.

Since 1983, Interiors 1900 has built its reputation on handmade Tiffany style lighting, and this flush fitting carries on that tradition in miniature. Each panel of glass is individually cut and leaded, so colour and texture vary slightly between fittings, the mark of glass mixed and worked by hand rather than machine produced. The brand has since expanded into solid brass and crystal lighting, but ranges like Ashton remain close to the craft it was founded on.
