A Square Louvre, No Transformer Needed
The Step Light Louvre Square GU10 is the mains powered version of this fitting, sharing the same square flange and five horizontal louvre slats as the low voltage version. Light is spread sideways in a wide, even wash across a step tread rather than in a single beam, and because it runs on mains power through a standard GU10 lamp, there is no transformer to install. The square flange gives it a sharper, more architectural line than Hunza's round Step Light Louvre.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
This GU10 version is made from solid 316 stainless steel, Hunza's marine grade metal for fittings that need to shrug off weather without changing colour. It keeps a consistent satin finish over time rather than developing a patina, though Hunza recommend an occasional wash since stainless steel can pick up surface tarnish in some environments. A small H mark is pressed into the face.

Does this version need a transformer?
No. It runs directly off mains power through a standard GU10 lamp. The low voltage version of this fitting is the one that needs a Hunza transformer.
What is the difference between the square and round Step Light Louvre?
They spread light the same way, in a wide horizontal wash. The square version has an 88mm square flange for a crisper, more architectural look, while the round version suits a softer setting.
Does the stainless steel finish need any care?
An occasional wash is enough. Hunza note that 316 stainless steel can develop a surface tarnish in some environments, and washing helps prevent it.
