A Square Profile Step Light, Wired Straight to the Mains
The Step Light Louvre Square GU10 is the mains version of Hunza's louvred step light. It uses the same square flange and horizontal louvre slats as the low voltage version, spreading light sideways across a step tread rather than throwing a single beam, but runs straight off mains power through a standard GU10 lamp rather than needing a transformer. The square flange gives it a cleaner, more architectural line than the round Step Light Louvre.
Solid Copper, Built to Patina
This GU10 version is made from solid copper rather than a plated or powder coated copper look. Left outdoors, Hunza's solid copper is designed to weather naturally, moving from a bright copper tone when new toward a darker brown and eventually a green patina over time, in the same way as copper roofing or guttering. A small H mark is pressed into the face of the fitting.
How It Works
- The louvre slats are fixed across the face and non adjustable, always throwing light sideways in a wide horizontal wash rather than a single beam.
- Recessed body 63.5mm in diameter and 90mm long, behind an 88mm square flange only 7mm deep.
- Cut out size is 63.5mm.
- Runs on mains power with no separate driver or transformer needed, using a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp, sold separately.
- Rated IP66 with Hunza's 10 year warranty.
- Also available as a low voltage version in the same copper finish if you would rather run it from a transformer, or as a Pure LED version with an integrated LED chip.

In fairness, they show the general louvred wash effect on real stone steps rather than a close up of this specific square, copper, mains fitting, since we do not yet have installation photos of the square profile on site. The wide, even light spread they show across each tread is exactly what this fitting is designed to produce.

- No bulb supplied. A Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp is required to keep the IP rating and warranty valid.

- Solid copper will darken and patina outdoors over time. This is normal and not a fault.

Questions People Ask
Do I need a transformer for this fitting?
No. This GU10 version runs directly off mains power, unlike the low voltage version which needs a Hunza transformer.
How is this different to the round Step Light Louvre?
Both spread light sideways in the same wide, even wash. This version has an 88mm square flange for a more architectural look, while the round Step Light Louvre has a circular flange that suits a softer setting.
Will the copper finish change colour over time?
Yes. Solid copper is a natural finish that Hunza expect to darken and eventually patina outdoors, moving from bright copper toward brown and then green.
What lamp does this fitting take?
A Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp, sold separately. Using a non approved lamp can affect the IP rating and warranty.
