A Step Light With a Squared Off Look
The Step Light Louvre Square is a recessed outdoor step light with a flush square flange and a louvred lens across its face. Rather than throwing a single beam of light, five horizontal louvre slats spread the light sideways into a wide, even wash across a step tread or the face of a wall. The square profile gives it a crisper, more architectural look than Hunza's round Step Light Louvre, so it suits settings with straight lines and hard landscaping rather than softer, more traditional surroundings.
Solid Copper, Left to Weather Naturally
This version is made from solid copper, not a copper plated or powder coated finish. Copper is one of Hunza's two solid metal options for this fitting, alongside 316 stainless steel, and it is designed to be left outdoors and allowed to darken and patina over time rather than kept polished. Fresh out of the box it has a warm, bright copper tone. Over months and years outdoors it will deepen toward a duller brown and eventually a soft green patina, in the same way as a copper roof or gutter. A small H makers mark is pressed into the face, low key enough not to distract from the light itself.
How It Works
- Fixed direction, non adjustable. The louvre slats are cut straight across the face and always throw light sideways, so there is no beam to aim.
- Recessed body 63.5mm in diameter and 68.5mm long, with an 88mm square flange only 7mm deep so it sits almost flush once installed.
- Cut out size is 63.5mm.
- Runs on low voltage and needs a Hunza transformer, plus a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, sold separately.
- Supplied with 1m of cable, wired in parallel so more fittings can be added to the same circuit.
- Rated IP66 and comes with Hunza's 10 year warranty.
- Also made as a GU10 mains version if mains power suits your installation better, and as a Pure LED version with an integrated Cree LED chip if you would rather not deal with a separate lamp.

To be upfront, these particular photos show the general louvre effect on real staircases rather than this exact square profile in copper, since we do not yet have installation photos of the square version on site. The lighting effect they show is genuinely representative of how this fitting performs once installed.

What is the difference between the square and round Step Light Louvre?
They use the same louvred lens and give the same wide horizontal wash of light. The square version has an 88mm square flange for a more architectural look, while the round Step Light Louvre has a circular flange that suits softer or more traditional settings.
Will the copper finish stay bright?
No. Solid copper is a natural finish and Hunza expect it to darken and patina with weather exposure, moving from a bright copper tone toward brown and eventually green over time.
Can I aim the light in a particular direction?
No. The louvre slats are fixed across the face of the fitting and always spread light sideways in a horizontal wash, so there is no adjustment to make once it is installed.
Do I need anything else to install this?
Yes. This is a low voltage fitting, so it needs a Hunza transformer and a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, both sold separately.
