A Freestanding Underwater Spotlight in Marine Grade Steel
The Hunza Weighted Base Pond Light in Stainless Steel sits on the pond floor under its own weight rather than clamping to an edge. There is nothing to drill and nothing to fix through a liner, which makes it a straightforward way to add proper underwater lighting to an established pond, or to keep your options open on a new build where you may want to move lights around as planting matures.
Marine Grade Stainless Steel
The lamp head, yoke and weighted base are made from 316 grade marine stainless steel throughout. It is the same grade used on boats and coastal architecture, chosen because it copes with constant water contact and salt air without pitting or staining. Left in its natural brushed finish, it has a clean, understated look that works well against stone, render or timber pond edging.
How It Works
- The lamp head tilts within its yoke, and because the whole fitting is freestanding you can turn or reposition the base by hand to aim the beam where you need it.
- Rated IP68 and fully submersible on a continuous basis, up to 2 metres deep.
- Lamp head measures 63.5mm in diameter and 75mm in length. The weighted base is 78mm in diameter and 45mm high. Supplied with 3 metres of cable.
- Runs on low voltage and needs a compatible transformer, which is sold separately.
- Takes a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, not supplied. Using anything else will affect the IP68 rating and invalidate the warranty.
Where It Works Best
This is a good fit for decorative garden ponds, koi ponds, wildlife ponds, natural ponds, water gardens, ornamental lakes and fountains, anywhere you want a light that sits freely on the pond floor rather than fixing to an edge. It is not designed for swimming pool use.

- No lamp is supplied. Fit a Hunza approved MR16 LED to keep the IP68 rating and 10 year warranty valid.
- Requires a compatible low voltage transformer, sold separately.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.

Questions People Ask
Does this light need to be fixed to anything?
No. It sits on the pond floor under its own weight, so there is nothing to drill or fix through the liner.
Can I move it once it is installed?
Yes. Because it is freestanding rather than clamped in place, you can lift and reposition it at any time.
Is the stainless steel solid or plated?
The lamp head, yoke and base are made from solid 316 grade marine stainless steel throughout, not a plated finish over another metal.
How deep can it be submerged?
It is IP68 rated and can stay fully submerged on a continuous basis to a depth of 2 metres.
What lamp does it take?
A Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, which is not included. Fitting a different lamp affects the IP68 rating and the warranty.
Can this be used in a swimming pool?
No. It is intended for garden ponds, water gardens and ornamental water features, not swimming pools.
