If you have an established pond and drilling through the base is out of the question, this is the fitting to look at. The Hunza Weighted Base Pond Light in Stainless Steel with Powder Coat sits on the pond floor under its own weight, with nothing to fix through the liner, and it comes in a matt colour finish that blends into a pond liner or surrounding planting rather than standing out as bright metal in daylight.

Stainless Steel Body, Powder Coated Finish

The lamp head, yoke and weighted base are made from 316 marine grade stainless steel, the same corrosion resistant grade Hunza uses on its bare metal pond lights, finished with a durable UV stable powder coat for colour. It is available in matt black, matt bronze, matt dark grey, matt olive green, matt silver star, matt white and matt white birch. Dark grey, olive green, silver star, white and white birch are made to order finishes and supplied on a non returnable basis, so it is worth confirming your colour before ordering.

How It Works

• The lamp head tilts within its yoke, and because the whole fitting is freestanding you can turn or reposition the base by hand to aim the beam where you need it.
• Rated IP68 and fully submersible on a continuous basis, up to 2 metres deep.
• Lamp head measures 63.5mm in diameter and 75mm in length. The weighted base is 78mm in diameter and 45mm high. Supplied with 3 metres of cable.
• Runs on low voltage and needs a compatible transformer, which is sold separately.
• Takes a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, not supplied. Using anything else will affect the IP68 rating and invalidate the warranty.

Where It Works Best

This is a good choice for wildlife ponds, naturalistic water gardens, contemporary water features, koi ponds and decorative fountains, anywhere a matt colour finish suits the setting better than bright metal, and where you want a light that sits freely on the pond floor rather than fixing to an edge. It is not designed for swimming pool use.

• Requires a compatible low voltage transformer, sold separately.
• We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
• Colours are for guidance only. Printed and screen colours vary from the true powder coat finish, and swatches are available on request.

Questions People Ask

Does this light need to be fixed to anything?
No. It sits on the pond floor under its own weight, so there is nothing to drill or fix through the liner.

Is this the same fitting as the bare stainless steel weighted base light?
Yes. The lamp head, yoke and base are the same 316 marine grade stainless steel, just finished with a powder coated colour rather than left bare.

Can I return it if I choose the wrong colour?
Matt black and matt bronze can be returned within 14 days unused and in original packaging. The other five colours are made to order and cannot be returned, so it is worth checking a swatch first.

How deep can it be submerged?
It is IP68 rated and can stay fully submerged on a continuous basis to a depth of 2 metres.

What lamp does it take?
A Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, which is not included. Fitting a different lamp affects the IP68 rating and the warranty.

Can this be used in a swimming pool?
No. It is intended for garden ponds, water gardens and ornamental water features, not swimming pools.
