A Stainless Steel Lawn Light for Coastal Gardens
Set flush into turf, the Hunza Lawn Light GU10 in stainless steel casts a narrow column of light straight upwards rather than sideways. This version pairs a marine grade 316 stainless steel flange with a powder coated aluminium body below ground, and it connects directly to mains power.
A Marine Grade Stainless Steel Flange
The flange is 316 stainless steel, the grade used in marine and coastal fittings because it resists corrosion better than standard steel. Rather than weathering to a patina as bronze does, it holds its silver tone, which suits contemporary schemes and gardens near the sea. The body beneath it, buried once installed, is powder coated aluminium.
Beam, Lens and Size
You can aim the head up to 20 degrees away from vertical to pick out a tree or shrub. A lens set level with the lawn stops water and dirt collecting on the glass. The recessed body has a 96mm diameter and is about 90mm long, held by a 152mm flange.
Lamp and Power
No lamp is included with this fitting. A Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp is needed to keep the IP rating and warranty valid. It uses mains voltage, so no transformer is required, and Hunza also makes a low voltage version for transformer fed circuits.
Where It Works Best
Suited to coastal gardens, contemporary schemes where a silver tone suits the surroundings better than bronze, and installations already wired for mains power.
How We Plan and Fit Hunza Lighting
Our relationship with Hunza goes back to 2003. We design lighting schemes for gardens, supply Hunza fittings and install them in real gardens as part of our everyday work. We have used this stainless steel version on coastal projects where salt air rules out anything less robust. The project photographs on our Design Service page are our own completed schemes, and they show how we plan the lighting, draw up the layout and install it with NICEIC registered electricians.
