A Mains Lawn Light With Seven Powder Coat Colours
The Hunza Lawn Light GU10 in powder coat sits flush with the turf and points its lamp upward, rather than spreading light sideways. It runs directly on mains power, and the powder coated aluminium body means you can match or contrast it with paving, planting or brickwork rather than being limited to a metal tone.
Powder Coated Aluminium in Several Colours
The body is cast from corrosion resistant low copper aluminium alloy with a chromate substrate and a UV resistant polyester powder coat, and the flange is solid aluminium. It comes in Black, Bronze, Dark Grey, Olive Green, Silver Star, White and White Birch, with swatches available on request since colours on screen are only ever a guide. Hunza gives the aluminium version a 5 year warranty, compared with 10 years on its solid bronze and 316 stainless steel flange versions.
Beam and Size
The lamp holder rotates 360 degrees and the lamp can be directed up to 20 degrees at a tree, shrub or the side of a building without lifting the fitting out of the ground, because the flange is held by three anti vandal 316 stainless steel allen head screws. The 12mm clear tempered, shatter resistant glass lens finishes flush with the turf so that water and dirt cannot settle on it, and carries a lifetime warranty. Below ground the body is 96mm in diameter and 86mm long, topped by a 152mm flange 10mm deep, with a 96mm cut out. The fitting is rated IP67.
Lamp and Power
Hunza does not supply a bulb. It takes a GU10 lamp, and Hunza lists a maximum of 25 or 35 watts. To protect the IP rating and warranty, use a Hunza approved GU10 LED lamp. Mains voltage means there is no transformer to buy, and a low voltage version of the same light is available if the rest of your scheme runs from a transformer. A frosted lens, hex cell retainer and cable joint kit are available as accessories.
Where It Works Best
Suited to borders, beds and lawn areas where colour matching matters, in installations already wired for mains power. Hunza advises thinking about ground conditions such as fertiliser, soil acidity and salt content before choosing an in ground fitting.
Lawn Lights in Real Gardens
We have worked with Hunza since 2003. We design lighting schemes for gardens, supply Hunza fittings and install them in real gardens ourselves. We regularly recommend this powder coated version when a client wants the fitting to disappear into a colour scheme rather than stand out as bronze or steel. Our Design Service page carries photographs of our own completed lighting schemes and shows how we plan a layout, draw it up and install it using NICEIC registered electricians. If you are choosing where a run of lawn lights should sit, that page is a good place to begin.

Can this be mowed over?
Hunza designs the Lawn Light to be mowed over without damaging the luminaire, thanks to the flush fit glass lens. It does advise considering ground conditions such as fertiliser, soil acidity and salt content before choosing an in ground fitting.
Is a transformer needed for this one?
No transformer is involved because this version is built for mains voltage.
Is a bulb included?
