A fully cast solid bronze lawn light built for demanding ground
The Hunza Lawn Light in cast solid bronze is solid bronze from the fluted body right up through the flange, not just a bronze ring on top of something else. It sits flush in turf and throws a narrow column of light straight up rather than spreading sideways, and it runs on low voltage.
Cast bronze, top to bottom
Every part of this fitting you can see, and the body buried beneath it, is solid bronze. That makes it the toughest version of the Lawn Light Hunza makes: it copes with regular mowing, high soil acidity, salt spray and heavy fertiliser use without the finish chipping or wearing through, which is the risk with the powder coated versions. Left outdoors, the bronze will darken and develop a natural patina over time. Hunza treats this as part of the design rather than a fault.
How it works
The head directs light up to 20 degrees off vertical, enough to angle the beam toward a nearby tree or shrub rather than straight up. A flush fit lens sits level with the lawn surface to stop water and dirt pooling on the glass. The recessed body runs 100mm long including the cable gland, set into a 146mm flange 13.5mm deep, and it's supplied with 1m of cable.
It isn't supplied with a bulb, and to keep the IP rating and warranty valid, it must be run with a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp. Being low voltage, it also needs a transformer, sold separately, wired in parallel with the rest of the circuit. The same fixture is also available as a GU10 mains version if you'd rather skip the transformer.
Where it works best
Suited to lawns that see regular mowing, high footfall, or ground conditions like heavy fertiliser or salt spray that would wear a lighter finish. It's a good fit for formal lawns maintained on a schedule, coastal gardens, and anywhere the fitting needs to disappear into the turf and stay there for years.
Our experience with Hunza
The photographs on this page are from our own completed projects, not stock imagery, showing this fitting recessed into real lawns at dusk and after dark. Moonlight Design has specified Hunza fittings since we were founded in 2003, and this cast bronze version is the one we tend to recommend when a client tells us their lawn gets mown every week.
Good to know
- Made to order: usually ships within 2 to 3 days. If temporarily out of stock, allow 3 to 5 weeks.
- Returns: this fitting can be returned within 14 days of delivery if unused, uninstalled and in original packaging.
- Not supplied with a bulb. A Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp is required to keep the IP rating and warranty valid.
- Requires a transformer, sold separately, as this is a low voltage fitting.
- Solid bronze throughout, including the buried body, so it can be safely mown over and used in high acidity or salty ground.
- We recommend installation by a registered NICEIC electrician.
Questions People Ask
Is the body solid bronze as well as the flange?
Yes. Unlike the standard Solid Bronze Lawn Light, which pairs a bronze flange with a powder coated aluminium body, this cast version is solid bronze all the way through, including the part that sits below the surface.
Can I mow over this light?
Yes, it's designed to take regular mowing without the finish chipping, which is why it's the version Hunza recommends for lawns with high soil acidity, salt content or heavy fertiliser use.
Will the bronze change colour over time?
Yes, left outdoors it will darken and develop a natural patina. This is expected and doesn't affect performance.
Does it come with a bulb?
No. It takes a Hunza approved MR16 LED lamp, bought separately, which is required to keep the IP rating and 10 year warranty valid.
Is there a mains version?
Yes, the same fixture is available as a GU10 mains version for installations where you'd rather not run a transformer.
