A Border Light Built to Handle Coastal and Exposed Gardens
This version of the Hunza Border Light swaps powder coated aluminium for solid marine grade steel, giving you a fitting that can sit in a border through salt air, driving rain and hard frost without the finish breaking down. It still does exactly the same job: a wide, glare free spread of light across path edges and planting, with nothing shining upward into the sky.
Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel
316 is the grade of stainless steel used on boat fittings and coastal architecture because it resists pitting and corrosion far better than standard steel. Left in its natural brushed finish, it will hold its look through repeated exposure to damp soil and weather, which makes it a sound choice for gardens near the coast or anywhere lighting sits permanently in wet ground.
How It Works
- The head rotates a full 360 degrees and tilts from 0 to 90 degrees on a fully adjustable arm, so you can aim the beam exactly where you want it.
- Runs on a low voltage system, wired in parallel, and needs a Hunza buriable transformer to operate.
- Takes a G4 capsule LED, which is not included and must be bought separately.
- Supplied with a 1m cable and a frosted glass lens to cut glare.
- Rated IP66 and backed by a 10 year warranty on the fitting itself.
Where It Works Best

It works just as well dotted through planting as it does run in a line along a path or drive.

Designed and Made in New Zealand
Hunza has spent more than 30 years designing and hand assembling outdoor lighting in Auckland, New Zealand, according to the brand, with a particular focus on fittings that are built to outlast the gardens they sit in. The 316 stainless steel used here is part of that approach, chosen for durability over a cheaper alternative.

- Supplied as 850mm as standard. The 400mm length is made to order and is non returnable.
- This fitting is not supplied with a bulb. It requires a G4 capsule LED, purchased separately.
- To maintain the IP66 rating and the 10 year warranty, a Hunza approved LED must be used.
- Requires a Hunza approved buriable transformer, which is not included.
- Moonlight Design recommends that all outdoor lighting is installed by a registered NICEIC electrician.
