A fluted column sconce with a nod to early electric lighting

Volta is a single arm wall light with a fluted, faceted column stem and ball finial rising from a round backplate to a soft fabric shade, its name a reference to Alessandro Volta's early work on generating and transmitting electric current. The fluted stem gives the fitting a traditional, almost architectural silhouette.

Polished nickel finish with a white linen shade

The stem, finial and backplate are finished in polished nickel, a cool, reflective tone that suits both classic and more contemporary rooms. The shade is a white linen fabric, giving a soft, warm diffusion of light through the material rather than a hard edged beam.

How it works

Volta takes a single E14 bulb, maximum 40W (not supplied), positioned inside the linen shade above the fluted stem. It measures around 38.7cm in height, 12.1cm in width, and projects roughly 14cm from the wall. As a mains wired fitting, it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

Volta suits living rooms, dining rooms and hallways, working well in pairs either side of a mirror or fireplace, or spaced along a hallway wall where a softer, more traditional accent light is wanted. Its fluted column form and pale shade sit comfortably in classic and transitional schemes.
