Hobart is a simple, striking wall sconce from Hudson Valley Lighting that lets light spill downward from a shade in a weathered, dark brass finish onto a natural stone base beneath it. The pairing keeps the silhouette understated while still giving the fitting real material presence.

This version is finished in black brass, a dark, almost blackened metal tone that suits contemporary interiors and darker colour schemes. The base is a natural stone, so expect some variation in colour and veining between individual pieces, which is normal for a stone material rather than a flaw.

How it works

Hobart takes a single GU10 LED bulb, maximum 9W, MR16 base (not supplied), positioned to wash light down over the stone base beneath the shade. It measures around 41cm in height and 13cm in width, projecting about 8cm from the wall. As a mains wired fitting it should be installed by a qualified electrician.

Where it works best

It suits living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways where a simple downlight style wall fixture is wanted, for example either side of a doorway, above a console table, or spaced along a hallway. Its black brass finish and stone base work well in modern and transitional interiors built around darker metal tones.

Does the Hobart wall sconce come with a bulb?
No bulb is included. It takes one GU10 LED bulb with an MR16 base, rated at 9 watts maximum, which you will need to source separately.

Will the stone base look exactly like the one in the photos?
Not exactly. The base is a natural stone, so each piece has its own colour tone and veining, and yours may vary slightly from the images shown, which is a normal feature of the material rather than a fault.

Is the Hobart suitable for a bathroom?
