A crystal beaded chandelier built for real impact

Dunkirk is an 8 light chandelier from Hudson Valley Lighting, its steel frame layered with faceted crystal beads that catch and scatter light from bulbs concealed within the branches. Rather than showing bare lamps, the design channels light out through the crystal, giving the fixture a glittering, layered look that reads as a genuine centrepiece rather than a standard ceiling fitting.

The frame and fittings are finished in polished nickel, a cool, reflective metal tone that plays well against the crystal and suits contemporary as well as more traditional interiors. Crystal beading is factory strung onto the frame, so expect the usual small variations in bead placement piece to piece.

How it works

Dunkirk takes 8 x E14 bulbs, each rated up to 40W (not supplied), positioned deep within the crystal branches so the light source itself stays hidden. It measures around 61cm in height and 51cm in diameter, with a minimum drop of about 75cm and a maximum drop of around 207cm once fully extended on its chain, and weighs 4.5kg. As a mains wired fitting, installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

It suits living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways looking for a real focal point, over a dining table, in a stairwell, or as the centrepiece of a double height space. The polished nickel and crystal combination sits comfortably in both classic and more contemporary schemes.
