A Compact Burnt Orange Glow

The Small Pleat Ceiling Pendant is a compact, sculptural light in burnt orange with a pale pink interior, a scaled down sibling of houseof.'s larger pleat pendant. Its ribbed steel form and rich, autumnal exterior give it real presence even at this smaller scale, and the soft pink glow inside brings warmth without shouting for attention. Hung in a cluster of two or three above a kitchen island or breakfast bar, or as a single statement over a console table in an entryway, it adds a hit of colour and character to a scheme built around warm woods and neutral walls.

The burnt orange finish

The exterior is powder coated steel in a deep, autumnal burnt orange, a matte, tactile finish that catches the light along its pleated ribs rather than reflecting it. Inside, a pale pink lining tempers the glow when the pendant is lit, giving off a warm rather than clinical light. Together the two tones sit comfortably against terracotta, rust and warm timber, as well as against pale or neutral walls where the pendant can act as the main pop of colour in the room.

How it works

This is a hardwired pendant that connects directly to your mains electrics via a rose fitting, so it needs to be wired in rather than plugged in. The cable is adjustable, allowing a drop of anywhere between 250mm and 1950mm, so it can be set low over a table or higher in a hallway or stairwell. It takes a single G9 bulb (not included), up to 28W, and is compatible with dimmer switches if you want to soften or brighten the mood. As with any hardwired fixture, installation should be carried out by a qualified, registered electrician.

The pleat pendant collection was designed by Emma Gurner, founder of the studio Folds Inside, and this small burnt orange and pale pink version is a scaled down take on the original large pleat pendant, built for spaces or arrangements where a smaller silhouette makes more sense.
