This large cone shade wears its personality on the inside. From below, it reads as a single confident block of damson blue, but tilt your head and the reveal is a checkerboard lining in blue and cream that only shows itself once the bulb is lit. Hung low over a dining table, it turns an everyday meal into something worth lingering at, and it works just as well anchoring a kitchen island or bringing scale to a bedroom that needs one strong focal point.

The damson finish

Damson is a deep, slightly dusky blue with a purple undertone, more moody than primary. It's made from cotton canvas with a PVC laminate, which gives the shade a smooth, matte surface that holds its cone shape crisply rather than draping softly like an uncoated fabric would. On the outside it sits quietly with warm woods, rattan and brass fittings. Switch it on and the checkerboard lining in blue and cream does the talking, casting a graphic pattern of light and shadow across the ceiling.

How it works

The shade is built around a steel frame with a fixed gimbal fitting, designed to sit over your existing ceiling pendant or lampholder rather than as a standalone hardwired fixture. There's no assembly required, it simply fits in place and is ready to use. As a large scale shade, it works best with a decorative filament bulb that can hang low enough to be seen against the checkered interior.
