A genuinely large statement piece
This is the largest fitting in Hinkley's Zelda collection, an eight light chandelier built around a graduated steel sphere column with bowed arms reaching out to eight tapered etched glass shades. It is also a large fixture, with a diameter of 96.5cm and a drop that adjusts from 74.7cm up to 374.7cm, and it weighs 16kg, so it needs a genuinely tall room to show it off properly.
Polished Nickel finish
The frame is made from steel, finished in Polished Nickel, a cool, bright metal that catches the light along the sphere column and each bowed arm. Tapered etched glass shades sit at the end of every arm, softening the bulb's glow without hiding it completely. The same design is also available in a Chrome finish.
How it works
Each of the eight arms takes one E27 bulb, not supplied, so you will need eight bulbs before this chandelier is ready to use. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. This fitting is Class I, which means it needs an earthed electrical connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting, given its size and weight as well as the wiring involved.
Where it works best
Suits grand dining rooms, wide entrance halls and stairwells where the full sphere column and hanging arms can be seen from below. It also works well in a large living room or a principal bedroom, provided the ceiling has the height to let the drop extend properly.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley started life in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. It has stayed a family business ever since, from Stanley Wiedemer's takeover in the 1930s through to the fourth generation of Wiedemers now leading the company. A fitting on the scale of this eight light Zelda chandelier is a long way from those fourteen original lanterns. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring and full CE certification.

Is the Zelda 8 light chandelier dimmable? Yes, it works with a standard dimmer switch as long as you fit dimmable E27 bulbs. Standard non dimmable bulbs will not dim even on a dimmer circuit.
