Vintage Brass finish

The frame is steel, finished in Vintage Brass for a deliberately aged, antiqued tone rather than a bright polished shine. Three tapered, etched glass shades sit on a hemisphere cup at the end of each bowed arm, softening the light and adding texture against the metal. It pairs well with warm woods, aged leather and other brass or gold accents, and is also available in a cooler Nickel finish if you prefer a more contemporary look.

How it works

This is a three light pendant that hangs centrally from a ceiling rose, with an adjustable drop set anywhere between 55cm and 355cm. It takes three E27 LED bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to add your own. Choose dimmable E27 LED bulbs and pair them with a compatible dimmer switch if you want to dim it. This is a Class I fitting, which means it must be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

The scale and warm tone suit rooms where the pendant can be a genuine focal point: above a dining table, over a kitchen island, in a living room with high ceilings, or dropped down a stairwell or a hallway with tall ceilings. Because the drop adjusts all the way to 355cm, it works in spaces a standard pendant simply cannot reach.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started the company in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 outdoor lantern designs. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman who had already bought into the business, took full control and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. The Wiedemer family has led the company ever since, through Stanley's grandson Rick, who spent fifty years there from 1969, and on to the fourth generation, who began taking on leadership roles around 2000. A pendant like this one, with its deliberately aged Vintage Brass finish, sits comfortably against that long family history. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley designs like the Zelda for the UK and Europe, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this pendant dimmable? Yes, it is dimmable if you fit dimmable E27 LED bulbs and use them with a compatible dimmer switch. Standard, non dimmable bulbs will not dim even on a dimmer circuit.
