The Walker Single Small Wall Lantern carries the same angular, welded frame styling as the rest of the Walker range, scaled down to suit narrower entrances and side walls. In Buckeye Bronze, it has a warm, weathered depth that sits well against brick, render or timber.

Aluminium build, Buckeye Bronze finish

The frame is built from aluminium, chosen for its strength outdoors and its resistance to rust. The Buckeye Bronze finish gives it a rich, aged brown tone, and a clear glass shade sits inside the welded outer frame so the light itself stays visible rather than hidden behind solid metal.

How it works

This lantern takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add an LED lamp to your order. It works with a dimmer switch too, as long as you fit a dimmable bulb. This fitting is Class I, which means it needs an earthed connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Rated IP44, this lantern is built for exterior use and copes well with driving rain and damp air, so it suits porches, covered entrances, gateposts and sheltered side walls. Its smaller scale makes it a good fit either side of a narrower door, or used on its own beside a gate or garage.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. A lantern like this one, with its clean welded lines, sits close to that original brief. The Wiedemer family took over the business not long after Phil Hinkley's death in 1937, and four generations on, the company still designs outdoor lighting alongside everything else it now makes. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for UK homes, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Questions People Ask

Is this light dimmable? Yes. It works with a standard dimmer switch as long as you fit a dimmable LED bulb rather than a standard one.

Does it come with a bulb? No. It takes a single E27 bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add an LED lamp to your order separately.

What does the IP44 rating mean? IP44 means the lantern is protected against splashing water and small solid objects, which makes it suitable for exterior use in a porch, covered entrance or beside a gatepost. It shouldn't be mounted somewhere it will sit in standing water.

Does this lantern need an electrician to fit it? Yes. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting, as it is a mains wired fixture.
