A grand nickel chandelier built to fill a large room
The Truman 9 Light Chandelier is the largest fitting in the Truman collection, spreading nine boldly sloped arms into a genuine centrepiece for a big room. It is also a properly large fixture in its own right, with a diameter of 76.2cm and a drop that adjusts from 89.3cm up to 394.1cm, so it needs a room with real height and floor space to work. As the antique nickel finish is applied to give an aged look, the exact tone can vary slightly from piece to piece, and colours often look different on screen to how they appear in person. Please get in touch with our customer service team if you are ever unsure on size or colour before ordering.
Cast steel arms in an antique nickel finish
The frame is cast mild steel, finished in antique nickel, with etched opal glass shades fitted to each of the nine arms. The cast finials match those used across the wider Truman range, so this large piece carries the same traditional detailing as the smaller fittings in the collection. It suits classic and traditional interiors, and pairs well with dark wood furniture, panelled walls or a formal dining table.
How it works
This chandelier is hardwired to the ceiling and takes nine E27 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add your own before it can be installed. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. The fitting is Class I, which means it requires an earthed connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Its scale suits large living rooms, dining rooms and hallways with high ceilings, as well as bedrooms with the space to spare, where a grand traditional chandelier can act as the main focal point. Given its size, it works best where the ceiling height and floor space can comfortably take the full drop.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business a few years earlier, took over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined the company in 1969 and spent fifty years there, and by the 2000s the fourth generation of Wiedemers, Kristi, Jess and Eric, had begun taking on leadership roles of their own. A fitting on the scale of this nine light Truman chandelier is a long way from that first fourteen product catalogue, and it has been brought to the UK by Elstead Lighting since 2012, converted to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification along the way.

Questions People Ask
Is the Hinkley Truman 9 Light Chandelier dimmable? Yes, it can be dimmed, but only if you fit dimmable bulbs. Bulbs that aren't dimmable will not work properly with a dimmer switch.
Are bulbs included with this chandelier? No, bulbs are not included. It takes nine E27 bulbs, and we recommend LED bulbs for efficiency and lower heat output.
How big is the Truman 9 Light Chandelier? It has a diameter of 76.2cm and a height of 83.3cm, with a drop that adjusts from 89.3cm up to 394.1cm. At 17kg it is a substantial fitting, so check these measurements against your ceiling height and room size before ordering.
Do I need an electrician to install this chandelier? Yes. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is hardwired directly to the ceiling, and this is a Class I fitting that requires an earthed connection.
