This is the biggest wall lantern in Hinkley's Trellis collection, with four lights behind dense, seeded glass. It brings a stronger, more traditional presence to bigger porches and grander entrances, while keeping the same scroll arm and rivet detailing as the rest of the range.

Regency Bronze finish

The Regency Bronze finish sits over a mild steel frame, with cast metalwork including the large scroll arm and cast loop finial that give Trellis its traditional, hand forged look. The seeded glass panels add texture and a softly aged character, and pair well with brick, stone or painted exteriors.

How it works

This lantern takes four E14 LED bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to add some to your order. It's dimmable, as long as you fit dimmable LED bulbs together with a compatible dimmer switch. It's wall mounted, with a backplate that covers standard exterior fixing points. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed.

With an IP44 rating, this lantern is weatherproof and built for exterior use, including spots that catch some direct rain or spray. Its scale makes it a good match for larger porches, grand front doors, garden walls or anywhere that calls for a bigger, more traditional outdoor light.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's story starts in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley opened for business in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 outdoor lantern designs. That early focus on traditional outdoor lighting runs right through to ranges like Trellis today. The company stayed in the Wiedemer family for generations, including Rick Wiedemer's 50 year career that began in 1969, before a fourth generation of Wiedemers began taking on leadership roles from around 2000. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this large Trellis lantern to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this lantern dimmable? Yes. It's dimmable as long as you use dimmable LED bulbs together with a compatible dimmer switch. Ordinary LED bulbs that aren't dimmable will not dim even if you fit a dimmer.

Does it come with bulbs? No, bulbs are not included. You will need four E14 LED bulbs to fill all four lights.

Is this lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It has an IP44 rating, meaning it's protected against splashing water from any direction, so it's suitable for exterior walls, porches and entrances.

Does this lantern need an electrician to fit it? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's a Class I fitting, so it needs to be properly earthed as part of the installation.
