A wall light with real character
The Spyre 2 Light Wall Light has a shape that refuses to sit quietly on a wall. Its two arms twist outward at different angles, giving it a hand forged, sculptural look rather than a neat symmetrical one. It works as a genuine feature piece, not just a source of light, and this Metallic Matte Bronze version gives that sculptural shape a warm, textured surface to catch the eye.
Steel in a hand hammered bronze finish
This fitting is made from steel and finished in Metallic Matte Bronze, with a hand hammered surface that builds in texture and depth rather than a flat, uniform colour. It sits well against dark paint, exposed brick or timber, and pairs naturally with black ironmongery, brass door furniture or aged wood.
How it works
This fitting takes two E14 LED bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to add these to your order. It is dimmable when used with dimmable LED bulbs. It's a Class I fitting, wired to the mains and earthed for safety. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Its sculptural profile works well in hallways, staircases and living rooms, where it can be seen at eye level rather than up on a ceiling. It also suits bedrooms as a soft accent by a mirror or reading chair. Try it as a single statement piece, or in a pair either side of a doorway, fireplace or mirror for a more considered look.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started a small outdoor lantern business in Cleveland, Ohio, with a first catalogue of just 14 products. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the company, took over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. The Wiedemer family has stayed at the helm ever since, from Stanley's grandson Rick joining in 1969 through to the fourth generation taking on leadership roles from around 2000. A piece like this hand hammered Spyre wall light shows how far the brand's range has grown from those first 14 lanterns, and since 2012 Elstead Lighting has adapted designs like it for UK and European homes, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
