The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. Scout, itself a compact outdoor wall lantern, sits close to that original brief. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer took full ownership of the business and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it, keeping the company in family hands for generations that followed. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
