The Sag Harbor Single Small Wall Lantern is a compact black wall light built for everyday porch and doorway duty. It holds a single bulb behind a clear glass panel, throwing an open, even spread of light rather than a narrow beam, and its smaller scale makes it a good fit for narrower door surrounds, side entrances and pathways where a bigger lantern would look out of place.

The frame is cast in aluminium and finished in black, paired with clear glass that keeps the light source visible rather than diffused. It reads as a classic lantern shape without feeling heavy or ornate, so it suits modern render, brick and painted timber fronts as easily as a more traditional exterior.

How it works

This lantern takes one E27 bulb, which isn't supplied, so you'll need to add one to your order. It's dimmable if you fit a dimmable bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting is wall mounted and wired to the mains, and it's rated Class I. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started small. When Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1922, its debut catalogue ran to just 14 products, most of them outdoor lanterns much like this one. That early focus on straightforward, well made exterior lighting has stayed part of the range ever since, long after the company grew far beyond its first small catalogue. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, which is how a lantern with American roots ends up wired correctly for a British porch.

Is this lantern dimmable? Yes, it's dimmable if you fit a dimmable E27 bulb and use it with a compatible dimmer switch. A standard, non dimmable bulb will not dim.

Does it come with a bulb? No. It takes one E27 bulb, which is sold separately, so you'll need to add one to your order.

Can I install this myself? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a wall mounted, mains wired light, and a qualified electrician will make sure it's connected and earthed correctly for your home.

Is it suitable for a covered porch or an exposed wall? Yes. It has an IP44 rating, which means it's weatherproof enough for both covered porches and more exposed exterior walls.
