Hand rubbed Olde Bronze finish

Made from mild steel and finished by hand in Olde Bronze, giving each piece a warm, aged colour with soft variation from one fitting to the next. A cast candle sleeve sits beneath a light amber organza shade, adding a fabric warmth to the metalwork. It pairs naturally with dark wood, aged brass hardware and other pieces from the Plymouth collection.

How it works

This is a single light wall mounted fitting that takes one E14 bulb, not supplied, so you will need to add one to your order. It works with a dimmer switch as long as you fit dimmable bulbs. The fitting wires to a standard wall box and is supplied with the fixings needed to mount it. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is wired to Class I, which means it needs a proper earth connection.

Where it works best

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started out making residential outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen designs. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business in the mid 1930s, took it over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined the company in 1969, going on to a fifty year career there, and by the early 2000s a fourth generation of the family, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, including this Plymouth wall light, converting fittings like it to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
