The Plymouth Olde Bronze chandelier is the largest fitting in its collection, a nine light piece built for rooms with real height and space to fill. It is also a genuinely large fixture, with a drop that adjusts from 90.5cm up to 395.3cm and a diameter of 70.5cm, so it is worth measuring your space carefully before ordering. The Olde Bronze finish is hand rubbed, which means colour can vary slightly from piece to piece, and may look different on screen to how it appears in person.

Olde Bronze finish

Mild steel arms in a hand rubbed Olde Bronze finish carry cast candle style sleeves and light amber organza shades on all nine arms. The warm, aged bronze tone pairs well with dark wood furniture, aged brass hardware and traditional or transitional interiors.

How it works

Each of the nine arms takes a max E14 LED bulb. Bulbs are not supplied, so you will need to add nine to your order. The chain allows the drop to be adjusted from 90.5cm up to 395.3cm, so it can be set to suit tall or double height ceilings. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. This is a Class I fitting, which means it must be wired to a mains earth.

Where it works best

This chandelier is best suited to grand dining rooms, double height hallways and living rooms with high ceilings, where its full drop can be shown off. It also works well as a statement piece over a staircase or in a large bedroom with the height to take it.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. After Phil became ill in the 1930s, Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, bought into the business and took full control on Phil's death in 1937, moving his family to Cleveland to run it. The Wiedemer family has stayed at the helm ever since, with the fourth generation, including Jess Wiedemer, taking on leadership roles from around 2000. A piece on the scale of this nine light Plymouth chandelier is a long way from that first small catalogue, and since 2012 Elstead Lighting has adapted designs like it for UK wiring and CE certification.

Are bulbs included? No. This chandelier needs nine E14 bulbs, one for each arm, and none are supplied, so you will need to order these separately.

Is this chandelier dimmable? Yes, it works on a standard dimmer switch as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. Non dimmable bulbs will not dim, even on a dimmer circuit.
