The Plymouth 6 Light Chandelier is the largest fitting in Hinkley's Plymouth collection, with six curved arms sweeping out from a central column to hold light amber organza shades. It is also a genuinely large fixture, with a drop that adjusts from 67.6cm up to 220.1cm and a 70.5cm diameter spread, so it needs a room with real height and space around it. The Olde Bronze finish is applied by hand, which means small variations in tone from piece to piece are normal, and the colour can also look different on screen to how it appears once it's installed.

Olde Bronze finish and materials

Cast from mild steel and finished by hand in Olde Bronze, the frame has a warm, slightly uneven patina that catches the light along each curved arm. Six light amber organza shades sit over the candle style sleeves, softening the glow into a warm ring of light rather than a series of bright points. The finish pairs well with aged brass, dark wood and other warm metallics, and suits traditional and transitional dining rooms and hallways alike.

How it works

This is a six light chandelier that hangs from a central ceiling point on an adjustable chain, so the drop can be set anywhere between 67.6cm and 220.1cm to suit your ceiling height. It takes six E14 bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to add your own before it can be used. Dimmable E14 bulbs will let you dim the light, though the fitting itself doesn't include a dimmer switch. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is wired to Class I, which means it needs to be properly earthed.

Where it works best

With six arms and a generous spread, this chandelier is built for rooms with genuine scale: dining rooms, entrance halls, double height stairwells and living rooms with high ceilings. Because the drop adjusts up to 220.1cm, it can also work well over a staircase void or in a room with a vaulted ceiling. It isn't the right choice for a low ceiling or a small room, where a fitting this size would overwhelm the space.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. It has stayed a family business ever since. The Wiedemer family took over in the 1930s, and by 1969 the third generation, Rick Wiedemer Jr, had joined the company for what became a career spanning fifty years.
