A grand scale take on the Plymouth silhouette
The Plymouth range is built around a traditional sweeping arm silhouette, and this four light pendant is the largest version of it in the range. It shares the same cast detailing and amber organza shades as the smaller Plymouth pendants, but on a genuinely large scale, with a chain drop that adjusts from 98cm up to 402.8cm and a diameter of 45.1cm across the four arms. Please check these measurements against your space before ordering. The Olde Bronze finish is hand rubbed, so expect some natural variation in colour and texture from piece to piece, and be aware it can look different on screen to how it appears once lit in your home.
Olde Bronze finish
Mild steel arms and frame are finished by hand in Olde Bronze, a warm, dark bronze with lighter, burnished highlights where the finish catches the light. Because it is hand rubbed, no two pendants are identical, and colour can also vary slightly depending on your screen. Amber organza shades sit on all four arms, softening the light and adding a warm, traditional glow that suits classic and transitional kitchens equally well.
How it works
This is a four light pendant that takes 4 x E27 bulbs, not supplied, so you will need to add your own. It is dimmable when fitted with dimmable bulbs. It hangs from an adjustable chain, so the drop can be set anywhere between 98cm and 402.8cm to suit your ceiling height. The fitting is wired to Class I, which means it needs an earthed connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Given its scale, this pendant works best in rooms with real height and space to spare, such as open plan kitchens with a large island, double height dining rooms, entrance halls and stairwells with a tall run. It makes a strong centrepiece over an island or a long table, and because the drop adjusts so far, it also suits split level spaces where a standard pendant would look lost.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley started in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a first catalogue of just fourteen products. Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, bought half the business in the mid 1930s and took over fully after Phil's death in 1937, moving his family to Cleveland to run the company. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined in 1969 for a career spanning fifty years, and the fourth generation of the family, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, began taking on leadership roles around the turn of the millennium. A pendant on this scale, with sweeping cast arms and a traditional silhouette, reflects the kind of statement piece the company has grown into across four generations. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, including this Plymouth pendant, converting it to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Questions People Ask
Does this pendant come with bulbs? No, this fitting does not include bulbs. It takes 4 x E27 bulbs, which you will need to add to your order separately.
Is this pendant dimmable? Yes, it is dimmable as long as you fit dimmable E27 bulbs. Standard, non dimmable bulbs will not allow dimming even on a dimmer switch.
How big is this pendant? It has a diameter of 45.1cm across the four arms, a fixture height of 90cm, and a chain drop that adjusts from 98cm up to 402.8cm, so it can be set to suit ceilings of different heights. It weighs 10kg.
Will the finish look exactly the same as the photos? The Olde Bronze finish is applied by hand, so there is some natural variation in colour and texture from one pendant to the next, and colour can also appear slightly different depending on your screen. This is normal for a hand finished piece and not a fault.
Can I install this pendant myself? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is wired to Class I, which means it needs an earthed supply.
