The Plymouth 3 Light Flush is the close to ceiling version of Hinkley's Plymouth collection, made for rooms where a hanging pendant or chandelier would sit too low. It carries the same traditional detailing as the rest of the range, finished by hand in Olde Bronze with a light amber organza shade sitting flush against the ceiling.

The frame is mild steel with cast detailing, finished by hand in Olde Bronze for a warm, aged bronze tone. Around each of the three lights sits a light amber organza shade, which softens the light and adds texture against the metalwork. The look suits traditional and transitional interiors, and pairs well with dark woodwork, brass hardware or other aged metal finishes nearby.

How it works

This is a three light flush mounted ceiling fitting, wired for 3 x E14 LED bulbs, which aren't supplied so you'll need to add your own. It's dimmable as long as the bulbs you fit are dimmable. The fitting is Class I, which means it needs an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Because it sits flush against the ceiling at just 21cm high, the Plymouth flush mount works well in kitchens, dining rooms, landings and smaller bedrooms, particularly where a low or sloped ceiling rules out a pendant or chandelier. It brings the Plymouth collection's traditional character into rooms a hanging fitting wouldn't suit.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns from a small workshop in Cleveland, Ohio, with a first catalogue of just fourteen products. Illness led him to sell half the business to Stanley Wiedemer in the mid 1930s, and after Phil died in 1937, Stanley bought the rest and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. That same family has stayed at the helm ever since, with Stanley's grandson Rick Wiedemer joining the business in 1969 and the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, taking on leadership roles from around 2000.
