Pearl Bronze finish and materials

The frame is steel, finished in Pearl Bronze, a warm, softly aged bronze tone rather than a flat, uniform metal. Four ivory linen candle sleeves sit against the bronze rather than matching it, and each arm carries a clear optic glass shade. It is a warmer, softer look than Hinkley's darker Plantation finishes, and it suits rooms with wood tones, brass hardware or other warm metals nearby.

How it works

Four arms carry four E27 bulbs, and light reaches the room both through the optic glass and down underneath each shade. Bulbs are not supplied, so you will need to add four LED E27 bulbs to your order. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs, though the fitting itself has no built in dimmer. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is rated Class I, which means it needs to be earthed.

Where it works best

This pendant is built for a fixed drop over a dining table or kitchen island, where its scale can properly show. It also works well dropped down a stairwell or hung in a hallway or living room with enough ceiling height, anywhere the fitting can hang clear of the space below.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's story began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started out in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen outdoor lanterns. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had bought into the business earlier that decade, took it over outright and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined in 1969, going on to spend fifty years with the company, and the fourth generation of the family later stepped into leadership as the business grew. A design with the scale and detail of the Plantation range sits well within that long, family run history. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
