The Plantation 3 Light Large Flush takes the ornate pineapple glass detail from Hinkley's Plantation collection and brings it close to the ceiling, rather than hanging it on a chain or rod. It suits rooms where a pendant or chandelier would eat into headroom, without losing any of the collection's character.

Polished antique nickel finish

This variant is finished in polished antique nickel, a bright metal tone with a softened, aged edge rather than a hard mirror shine. It's made from steel with clear optic glass shades, and the cast metalwork around the base carries the same ornate detailing as the rest of the Plantation range. The same design is also available in a chrome finish, if you want a cooler, brighter tone instead.

How it works

Three E14 LED bulbs sit close under the ceiling, each behind its own pineapple shaped optic glass shade, so the light spreads out rather than beaming straight down. Bulbs aren't included, so you'll need to add three E14 bulbs to your order, and choose dimmable bulbs if you want this fitting to work with a dimmer switch. It's rated Class I, which means it needs an earthed connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Because it sits flush to the ceiling, this fitting suits hallways, kitchens, dining rooms and living rooms with standard ceiling heights, where the ornate detailing is still wanted but there's no clearance for a hanging design.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, started by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. The business passed to the Wiedemer family in the 1930s and stayed with them across the generations that followed. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, which is how a design rooted in an American lantern maker's catalogue ends up wired and certified for a British ceiling.

Is this light dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs and use a compatible dimmer switch. With standard, non dimmable bulbs it will not dim.

Are bulbs included? No. This fitting takes three E14 LED bulbs, which are sold separately, so you'll need to order three to use it.
