The Plantation 3 Light Flush Fitting is the largest flush version in Hinkley's Plantation range, adding a third lamp to spread more light across the room while keeping the fitting close and neat against the ceiling. In Burnished Brass, it brings a warm, aged brass tone to a design built around leaf like cast detailing and pineapple shaped glass shades.

This fitting is made from solid brass and glass. The burnished brass finish has a warm, slightly aged tone that suits dark paint, panelling or more traditional joinery. Three pineapple shaped, clear optic glass shades sit around the leaf like cast brass detailing that runs through the whole Plantation collection, so it pairs naturally with other pieces and finishes in the same range.

How it works

Three E27 lamps sit under the optic glass shades, close to the ceiling, casting light out through the glass across the room. Bulbs are not included, so you will need to add three E27 bulbs to your order. It is dimmable if you use dimmable bulbs with a compatible dimmer switch. This fitting is Class I, which means it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

This size of flush fitting suits a hallway, landing or bedroom with a lower ceiling, where a pendant would hang too low but a single lamp version would not give enough light. The fuller three lamp spread makes it a good fit for a larger hallway or landing than the two lamp version, while still sitting flush against the ceiling.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen pieces. When tuberculosis stopped him working in the mid 1930s, he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, and Stanley bought the rest after Phil died in 1937, moving his own family to Cleveland to run the firm. The Wiedemer family has kept that link ever since, with Stanley's grandson Rick joining in 1969 for a fifty year career and the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric, taking on leadership roles from around 2000. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs, including fittings like this Plantation flush light, for UK homes, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
