The Plantation 2 Light Small Flush in Pearl Bronze is a flush ceiling light built for rooms where a pendant would hang too low. It carries the Plantation collection's cast detailing and candle style silhouette in a warm, softly antiqued bronze rather than a brighter metal tone.

Pearl Bronze finish and materials

This fitting is made from steel with clear optic glass shades, finished in Pearl Bronze and set off by painted ivory candle sleeves. The warm bronze tone and ivory detailing sit well against softer wall colours and more traditional room settings.

How it works

Two lamps sit close to the ceiling under clear optic glass shades, spreading light outward rather than down in a single beam. It takes two E27 bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to order these separately. The fitting is dimmable when used with dimmable LED bulbs. It is a Class I fitting, which means it requires earthing. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Its flush fit and compact 30.5cm diameter make it a good match for rooms with limited ceiling height, as well as living rooms, kitchens, dining rooms and hallways where a fitting that sits close to the ceiling is needed rather than a hanging pendant. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. When illness forced Phil to step back in the 1930s, travelling salesman Stanley Wiedemer bought into the business, then took full ownership after Phil's death in 1937, moving his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. The company stayed within the Wiedemer family for decades, with Stanley's grandson Rick joining in 1969 and spending fifty years at the company, and the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric, taking on leadership roles from around 2000. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings like this compact Plantation flush light to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
