A larger lantern with real presence

The Hinkley Palma 2 Light Medium Wall Lantern in Black is the bigger sibling in the Palma range, built for doorways, porticos and gateposts that need something with more scale than a standard porch light. It holds two lamps side by side inside a cast lantern body, so it throws a wider spread of light across a bigger entrance.

Black finish over aluminium and glass

The frame is cast aluminium finished in black, with clear glass panels that let the light show through cleanly rather than being diffused. The casting itself carries a raised pineapple detail, a small decorative touch that runs through the whole Palma collection and gives the black finish some texture rather than a flat surface.

How it works

This lantern takes two E14 bulbs, which are not included, so you will need to order these separately. Fitted with dimmable bulbs, it will dim. It is wall mounted and may need a small amount of assembly on arrival. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is rated Class I, which means it needs to be properly earthed.

Where it works best

This is an outdoor wall lantern, rated IP44 so it is weatherproof and suited to exposed porches, entrance porticos and gateposts. It works well either side of a front door on a larger property, or paired with the smaller Palma lantern elsewhere on the same wall.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 when Phil R. Hinkley started making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. A lantern like this one sits close to that original purpose. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought half the business, took over fully and moved his family to Cleveland to run it, and his descendants have led the company ever since. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, which is how a design rooted in an American outdoor lantern maker ends up wired for a British porch.

Is this wall lantern dimmable? Yes, the Hinkley Palma 2 Light Medium Wall Lantern will dim if you fit it with dimmable E14 bulbs. Standard, non-dimmable bulbs will not dim even on a dimmer switch.

Are bulbs included? No. This lantern takes 2 x E14 bulbs, which need to be bought separately and fitted before use.
