The Hinkley Miles Single Wall Lantern brings a traditional, nautical lantern shape to your front door or porch, finished in a light, cool toned Painted Satin Nickel. This lantern is made from a weather resistant composite, chosen because it won't rust or corrode the way metal can outdoors. The Painted Satin Nickel finish gives it a cool, understated tone that works well against light or dark brickwork, render or timber. Clear seeded glass panels sit around the single lamp, adding subtle texture without hiding the light source. The finish carries a 5 year warranty.

How it works

The Miles lantern takes one GU10 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add your own when you order. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable LED bulbs. This is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It mounts flat to an exterior wall.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started life in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley set up shop in Cleveland, Ohio, making outdoor lanterns. His first catalogue held just 14 products, and lanterns much like this one were the foundation the whole company was built on. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer took over and moved his family to Cleveland to run the business, and it's stayed under Wiedemer family leadership ever since, with a third and now fourth generation involved over the years. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs, including this Miles lantern, for UK wiring and CE certification, so a shape rooted in a 1920s American lantern maker's catalogue now works safely on a British wall.

Is this lantern dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit a dimmable LED bulb. With a standard, non dimmable bulb it will simply work at full brightness.

Does it come with a bulb? No, this fitting takes one GU10 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to order one separately.
