The chandelier takes four E27 bulbs, which are not included, so you'll need to add these to your order. Fit dimmable LED bulbs if you want to dim the light, since the fitting only dims when dimmable bulbs are used. It's wired to Class I, so it needs to be earthed. The chain lets the drop be adjusted between 82.2cm and 336.2cm at installation, so it can be set to suit rooms with different ceiling heights.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, when founder Phil R. Hinkley's debut catalogue held just 14 products. A century on, the Middlefield collection is a different scale altogether, and this four light chandelier's reach, from an 82.2cm drop to well over three metres, shows how far the range has grown from those early lanterns. The Wiedemer family has carried the business ever since: Stanley Wiedemer bought into the company in the mid 1930s and took full ownership after Phil's death in 1937, and his grandson Rick joined in 1969, beginning a career with the company that spanned 50 years. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, rewiring fittings like this one for 220 to 240V and full CE certification.
