A grand traditional pendant built for real scale
The Mayflower 3 Light Pendant brings an old world presence to a room, built around a lustrous Olde Bronze frame and glass panels etched on the inside with a soft amber tone. Distinctive yoke mount holders cradle each glass panel while decorative cast tension knobs finish the design with an authentic period feel. This is also a genuinely large fixture, with an adjustable drop from 80cm up to 384.8cm, a diameter of 53.3cm and a weight of 11kg, so it is worth checking these measurements against your ceiling height and the space below before ordering.
Olde Bronze finish and etched amber glass
The frame is made from mild steel finished in Olde Bronze, a warm, aged tone that pairs naturally with dark wood, brass hardware and traditional colour schemes. Inside each glass panel, the amber etching softens and warms the light that passes through it, giving the pendant a gentle glow rather than a harsh, uniform brightness.
How it works
This pendant takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add these to your order. It hangs on an adjustable chain and cable arrangement, which is how the drop can be set anywhere between 80cm and 384.8cm to suit your ceiling height. It is a Class I fitting, which requires an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Three lights and a generous traditional silhouette make this pendant a natural choice above a dining table, in a large hallway, or as a central light source in a living room where you want one strong, characterful fitting rather than several smaller ones.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley Lighting began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley opened a small outdoor lantern workshop in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. After Phil became ill in the mid 1930s he sold half the business to Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, and when Phil died in 1937 Stanley bought the remaining half and moved his family to Cleveland to run the company himself. The Wiedemer family has shaped the brand ever since, from Stanley's grandson Rick joining in 1969 for a fifty year career to the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric, taking on leadership roles around 2000. A design with the scale and presence of the Mayflower shows how far that small lantern maker has travelled, and since 2012 Elstead Lighting has adapted pieces like this one for UK homes, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
