A pedestal companion to the Manhattan lanterns
The Manhattan Single Pedestal takes the same train station look as Hinkley's Manhattan wall lanterns and brings it down to ground level, sitting on top of a post to mark out a driveway, path or garden boundary rather than lighting a doorway.
Oil Rubbed Bronze finish
This pedestal light is finished in Oil Rubbed Bronze over a die-cast aluminium body, with clear glass panels that let the light show through on every side. The dark bronze tone sits well against brick, render or stone, and it shares the same detailing as the wall mounted Manhattan lanterns if you want to light a wall and a path to match.
How it works
It takes a single E27 LED bulb, which isn't included, so you'll need to add one when you order. The fitting is designed to sit on top of a matching pedestal or post rather than fix to a wall, and it's dimmable if you choose a dimmable bulb. This is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.
Where it works best
Rated IP44, this pedestal light is built to live outdoors and cope with wind and rain. It works well marking the start of a driveway, lining a path in matched pairs, or standing either side of a gate or entrance.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley started out in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 designs. A pedestal light like this one sits close to that original idea: fittings built to work outside, in all weather, marking the way to a door, a gate or a driveway. The company has grown a long way beyond that first catalogue, but outdoor lighting has stayed part of its range throughout. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification, which is how this Manhattan pedestal reaches British driveways and gardens today.
