This three light semi-flush fitting closes out the Lanza collection in Oil Rubbed Bronze, the deepest and moodiest of the range's three finishes. Its geometric metal frame and softly glowing linen shades give it a look that sits somewhere between traditional and contemporary, so it works in a wider mix of rooms than a purely period piece.

Oil Rubbed Bronze finish

The frame is mild steel finished in Oil Rubbed Bronze, a warm, near black tone with just a hint of brown showing through. Oatmeal linen shades sit inside the frame with acrylic lenses beneath them, softening the light and keeping the geometric lines visible rather than hidden behind solid fabric. The same design is also available in Antique Nickel and Brushed Bronze if you want a lighter finish.

How it works

This is a semi-flush fitting, so it sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging on a chain or rod, which suits rooms with lower ceilings. It takes three E27 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add your own. Choose dimmable bulbs if you want to dim it, since dimming depends on the bulbs used rather than the fitting itself. It's Class I, which means it needs an earthed connection. Where it works best

The dark, geometric look suits bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and hallways, especially where the ceiling is a little lower and a pendant would hang too far down. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The Wiedemer family took over in the 1930s and has run the company ever since, now four generations in. This Lanza fitting is a long way from those first lanterns, a fitting made for indoor rooms rather than porches, but it carries the same family ownership behind it. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this light dimmable? Yes, but dimming depends on using dimmable bulbs. If you fit non-dimmable bulbs, the light will not dim even on a dimmer switch.

Are bulbs included? No. This fitting takes 3 x E27 bulbs, which are sold separately, so you can choose the wattage and colour temperature you prefer.

Can I hang this from a chain instead of mounting it flush to the ceiling? No. This is a semi-flush design, made to sit close to the ceiling, so it does not come with a chain or rod for hanging lower.
