The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley, whose first catalogue held just fourteen products. A two light indoor wall fitting like this Lanza shows how far the range has grown from that first small catalogue of lanterns. The Wiedemer family took over ownership after Phil Hinkley's death in 1937, and by the early 2000s the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles in the business. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
