The largest lantern in the Huntersfield range
This is the biggest wall lantern in Hinkley's Huntersfield collection, built with three lights instead of one for entrances and porches that need more presence and more light. It keeps the same clean lines and clear seeded glass as the smaller Huntersfield lanterns, just scaled up for a bigger doorway.
Black aluminium and brass
The body is aluminium and brass, finished in black and paired with clear seeded glass panels that soften the light without hiding it. It's a finish that suits period and modern doorways alike, and one chosen to hold up to outdoor weather as well as it looks on the wall.
How it works
It takes three E14 bulbs, which aren't supplied, so you'll need to add your own. Choose dimmable bulbs and the fitting will dim with them. It's a Class I fitting, which means it requires an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It's wall mounted and wired to the mains, with fixings included for the black aluminium and brass body.
Where it works best
Rated IP44, this lantern is built for outdoor use and copes well with wind and rain, making it suitable for exposed porches, canopies and covered entrances. Its scale makes it a good match for larger doorways, double doors or entrances where a single small lantern would look lost, and it works either side of a door or as a single statement piece above it.
The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley started out in Cleveland, Ohio in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The outdoor lantern was the company's starting point, and it's stayed part of the range ever since. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer took over the business, and by 1969 his grandson Rick had joined the company too, carrying outdoor lighting like this through a fifty year career there. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings such as this Huntersfield lantern to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
