The Huntersfield 2 Light Medium Wall Lantern sits in the middle of the Huntersfield range, between the single light and three light versions. In black with clear seeded glass, it gives a porch or front door two points of light without the bulk of the largest option, and it is built to handle life outdoors.

The frame is made from aluminium and brass, finished in black, then paired with clear seeded glass panels that soften the light rather than showing a bare bulb. It keeps a classic lantern shape and sits comfortably against brick, render or timber.

How it works

This is a two light wall fitting, wired to the mains, and takes 2 x E14 bulbs which are not included. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. It is Class I, so it must be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Rated IP44, this lantern is built for outdoor use and copes well with wind and rain, making it a good match for porches, front entrances, covered walkways and other sheltered exterior spots. As a two light fitting, it works well either side of a larger door, or on its own where a single light would look too modest.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley's very first catalogue in 1922 held just 14 products, and every one of them was an outdoor lantern, the same job this Huntersfield fitting is still doing a century later. Phil R. Hinkley built that small Cleveland, Ohio workshop into a company the Wiedemer family would go on to run for generations, from Stanley Wiedemer taking over in 1937 through to his grandson Rick joining in 1969. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring and securing full CE certification.

Questions People Ask

Is this wall lantern dimmable? Yes, as long as you fit dimmable E14 bulbs. Standard non dimmable bulbs will not allow it to dim.

Are bulbs included? No. This fitting takes 2 x E14 bulbs, which are sold separately.

Can I install this myself? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a Class I fitting and must be properly earthed.

Is this lantern suitable for outdoor use? Yes. It is rated IP44, which means it is protected against splashing water, making it suitable for porches, entrances and other sheltered exterior locations.

Does this lantern come in other sizes? Yes. The Huntersfield range also includes a single light and a three light wall lantern in the same black finish.
