The Hollis Single Wall Light takes its cue from 1920s Art Deco design, scaled down into a neat single arm wall light with an opal glass shade. This version comes in a Heritage Brass finish, giving the steel frame a warm, aged gold tone rather than a bright polished look.

The frame is steel, finished in Heritage Brass, a warm tone that mellows further over time rather than staying showroom bright. The opal glass shade diffuses the light evenly, so you get a soft glow rather than a visible bulb through a textured surface. Together they suit classic and transitional interiors, and pair well with other warm brass fittings and hardware.

How it works

Hollis mounts onto a standard wall box for a straightforward wall light installation. It takes 1 x E14 LED bulb, which isn't supplied, so you'll need to add one to your order. It's dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. This is a Class I fitting, so it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

This fitting is IP44 rated, which covers it for bathroom zone 2 and the outside zone under the bathroom lighting zones and regulations. Outside the bathroom, its compact scale suits hallways, bedrooms and landings, and it looks good fitted as a pair either side of a mirror or fireplace.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922, when Phil R. Hinkley started making lanterns in Cleveland, Ohio, with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The business passed to the Wiedemer family soon after: Stanley Wiedemer bought the company outright in 1937 and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it, and his grandson Rick joined in 1969 for a career that spanned 50 years. By the time the company simplified its name from Hinkley Lighting to Hinkley around 2019, the range had grown a long way from that first 14 piece catalogue, into detailed, smaller scale pieces like Hollis with its Art Deco styling. Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs for UK wiring and CE certification since 2012, which is how this wall light reaches British homes.
