The Harper Small Semi-Flush pairs an opal etched glass shade with a Heritage Brass ring and knobs, giving a traditional ceiling shape a slightly retro finish. Sitting close to the ceiling, it suits rooms where a full pendant would feel too heavy but a plain flush light would feel too plain.

Heritage Brass is a warm, slightly aged brass tone that works well against painted walls, exposed brick or wood panelling. The opal etched glass shade sits within a steel ring and diffuses light evenly rather than casting sharp shadows, so the fitting reads as soft and even rather than glary.

How it works

This semi flush fitting takes 3 x E27 LED bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add these to your order. It is dimmable if you fit dimmable bulbs. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. The Wiedemer family took over after Phil's death in 1937 and have run the company across four generations since, including Rick Wiedemer Jr, who joined in 1969 and worked in the business for 50 years. A design like the Harper, compact in scale and built for everyday rooms, sits closer to that early practical spirit than to a large statement piece. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's American designs for the UK, including converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is the Harper Small Semi-Flush dimmable? Yes, it is dimmable as long as you fit dimmable LED bulbs. Standard, non dimmable bulbs will not allow dimming even on a dimmer switch.

Are bulbs included? No. This fitting takes 3 x E27 LED bulbs, which are sold separately, so add these to your order before it arrives.

Can I install this myself? We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is a Class I fitting, which means it needs to be properly earthed as part of installation.
