Polished chrome and seeded glass

The ring and decorative knobs are finished in polished chrome, a bright, reflective finish that suits white or pale ceilings and pairs easily with steel or chrome fittings elsewhere in the room. The clear seeded glass has a subtle, bubbled texture that softens the light rather than showing the bulbs directly. Steel and glass are the only materials used, keeping the fitting light in both look and weight.

How it works

This semi-flush design sits just below the ceiling rather than pulled flush against it, giving Harper a touch more presence than a true flush fitting. It takes 3 x E27 LED bulbs, which aren't included, so you'll need to add your own. Fitted with dimmable bulbs, it will dim; fitted with standard bulbs, it won't. It's rated Class I. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out small. When Phil R. Hinkley founded the company in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1922, its debut catalogue held just 14 products, a modest outdoor lantern range built on careful design rather than scale. That same attention to a compact, well finished fitting carries through to a light like the Harper Small Semi-Flush. The Wiedemer family took over not long after, with Stanley buying into the business in the 1930s and his descendants running it for three further generations. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe, converting fittings like this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
