The Harper Medium Semi-Flush takes the opal glass and metal ring design of the Harper range and scales it up, with three light sources instead of one. It sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging down, which makes it a good option for rooms with lower ceilings where a pendant would sit too low.

Polished chrome and opal glass

The metal ring and decorative knobs are finished in polished chrome, a bright, reflective finish that catches the light without dominating the room. The opal etched glass diffuses light evenly rather than showing the bulbs directly, so it stays comfortable to look at even at this larger size. Steel and opal glass are a hardwearing combination that suits both traditional and more contemporary rooms. If polished chrome isn't quite right for your space, this design is also available in a nickel finish.

How it works

This semi-flush ceiling light takes 3 x E27 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you'll need to add these to your order before it's ready to use. It's dimmable, provided you fit dimmable bulbs. The fitting is Class I, which means it needs to be earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

At 45.6cm across, this medium size Harper semi-flush gives kitchens, hallways and dining rooms a ceiling light with more scale and presence than a small flush fitting, while still sitting neatly close to the ceiling. The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started out as a small outdoor lantern maker, founded by Phil R. Hinkley in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1922 with a first catalogue of just 14 products. The Wiedemer family took over during the 1930s and kept it family run for generations, and by around 2000 the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles. A design like this Harper semi-flush reaches the UK through Elstead Lighting, which has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK and Europe since 2012, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.

Is this light dimmable? Yes, but only if you fit dimmable LED bulbs. Standard, non-dimmable bulbs will not respond to a dimmer switch.
