The Hinkley Gentry 6 Light Large Pendant in Polished Nickel is the biggest fitting in the Gentry range, with six candle style lights arranged around a traditional cast frame in a bright, reflective finish. It is also a genuinely large fixture, with a drop that adjusts from 73.8cm up to 381cm and a weight of 11.5kg, so it needs a properly considered spot with enough height and a sound ceiling fixing point.

The Polished Nickel finish

Polished Nickel gives this large pendant a cool, contemporary edge that sits well against the traditional candle chasers and six clear bent glass panels repeated around the frame. How it works

This pendant hangs from a ceiling rose and takes six E14 LED bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to add these to your order. It works with dimmable bulbs if you want to dim the light, though it will not dim with standard, non dimmable bulbs. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting. It is also a Class I fitting, which means it must be properly earthed as part of installation.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley started in 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, when Phil R. Hinkley began making outdoor lanterns, launching with a catalogue of just 14 products. The Wiedemer family took over the business in the 1930s, and by 1969 Stanley's grandson Rick Wiedemer had joined the company, going on to spend 50 years there. That family stewardship, and the shift from a handful of small lanterns to large scale pieces like this Gentry pendant, shows how far the range has grown since that first catalogue. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
