The Hinkley Gentry 4 Light Medium Pendant brings a fourth light source to the Gentry range's medium pendant, wrapped in a warm Polished Brass finish. It is also a genuinely large fixture, with a drop that adjusts from 60cm up to 216.9cm, so it works just as well centred over a dining table as it does dropped down a tall stairwell.
The Polished Brass finish
Solid brass is polished to a bright, warm gold tone that suits classic and period interiors well. Clear glass panels sit within cast candle chasers, a detail that runs throughout the Gentry collection and gives the pendant its traditional character.
How it works
This medium pendant carries four E27 bulbs, which are not supplied. It hangs from a ceiling rose on an adjustable cable, so the drop can be set anywhere between 60cm and 216.9cm to suit your ceiling height. It is dimmable if used with dimmable bulbs. This fitting is wired to Class I, which means it requires an earth connection. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

The story behind Hinkley
Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. A pendant of this scale, with a drop that stretches beyond two metres, is a long way from those early lanterns, though the Gentry range's candle chasers and glass panels still echo that traditional lighting language. Stanley Wiedemer, a travelling salesman from Kansas City, bought half the business in the mid 1930s and took over fully after Phil Hinkley's death in 1937, moving his family to Cleveland to run the company. His grandson Rick Wiedemer joined the business in 1969, and by around 2000 a fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, had begun taking on leadership roles. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted designs like this one for the UK, converting them to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
