The Polished Nickel finish

How it works

Gentry is a three light pendant that hangs from a ceiling rose on an adjustable cable or chain rather than sitting flush, so the finished drop can be set to suit the room. It takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to order these separately. It can be dimmed if dimmable bulbs are fitted. It is wired to Class I, which means it needs to be properly earthed. We always recommend a qualified electrician installs this fitting.

Where it works best

Its candelabra styling suits spaces where a traditional, slightly formal pendant works well, from a kitchen island or dining table to a stairwell. Because the drop adjusts up to almost two metres, it also works well in a room with taller ceilings, or dropped low as a stairwell feature running down through more than one floor.

The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just fourteen products. After Phil died in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had already bought into the business in the mid 1930s, took it over fully and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. His grandson Rick Wiedemer Jr joined in 1969, and the fourth generation, Kristi, Jess and Eric Wiedemer, began taking on leadership roles around 2000. A pendant like this one, with its classic candelabra detailing, sits comfortably within that long, steady family history rather than any passing trend. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has adapted Hinkley's designs, including this Gentry pendant, for UK wiring and full CE certification.

Is this pendant dimmable? Yes. Gentry works with dimmable bulbs, so if you fit dimmable E14 bulbs on a compatible dimmer switch you can dim it. Standard, non-dimmable bulbs will not dim even on a dimmer circuit.

Are bulbs included? No. This pendant takes 3 x E14 bulbs, which are not supplied, so you will need to order these separately before it can be installed.
