The story behind Hinkley

Hinkley began in 1922 as a small outdoor lantern maker in Cleveland, Ohio, founded by Phil R. Hinkley with a debut catalogue of just 14 products. After Phil's death in 1937, Stanley Wiedemer, who had bought into the business in the mid 1930s, took over and moved his family from Kansas City to Cleveland to run it. The Wiedemer family has led the company through four generations since, a line of continuity that shows in fittings like this Gentry flush mount, where a traditional silhouette and cast candle detailing carry the same period sensibility the brand built its name on. Since 2012, Elstead Lighting has manufactured and adapted Hinkley's designs for the UK, converting fittings such as this one to 220 to 240V wiring with full CE certification.
